SCASL Lifetime Achievement AwardTo celebrate the 50th anniversary of the South Carolina Association of School Librarians, we are proud to announce the newly established SCASL Lifetime Achievement Award to honor outstanding and lasting contributions to school libraries in South Carolina.
![]() Our first honoree is Frank Baker who has consistently worked hard to support school librarianship and South Carolina’s students over the past decades, particularly in fighting for students’ rights to quality media literacy education.
Our second honoree has served SCASL since the very beginning! We are so grateful to Diane Ervin for her incredible work as Executive Secretary without which SCASL would not continue to function each year. Our final honoree is not just an incredible asset to SCASL but the education in South Carolina. We are honored to recognize the lifetime contributions of Ida Thompson as an educator, school librarian, and advocate. |
